This silver tastevin has a circular form with a raised boss at the centre, set on a circular foot highlighted by a frieze of twisted cords. Its handle, consisting of a serpentiform ring with a stylised head, is applied to the rim. The exterior drinking rim is engraved with a burin with the owner’s name “S • JAYET”, in capital letters. The collar and handle bear several Ancien Régime hallmarks attributable to the généralité of Paris under the administration of the fermier général Eloy Brichard, circa 1756-1762, including charge, discharge and master silversmith’s marks.
